Nach vierzig Jahren Bruch in der Lehmbautradition der Region Noviligurie ist das Weingut La Raia das erste moderne Stampflehmgebäude. Zur Hälfte im Erdreich versenkt ragen die Lehmwände in einem monolithischen Körper aus dem Hang heraus. Die ästhetische Kraft des Bauwerkes liegt in der warm rötlichen Tönung der lokalen Erde, die sich in den Wänden wieder findet. Gebäude und Umgebung verschmelzen zu einer harmonisch gelassenen Einheit. Auch der Bauprozess selbst ist stark mit Ort verknüpft: die vierzig Meter langen Stampflehmwände wurden zur Gänze aus lokalem Material errichtet mit Arbeitern aus der Region.
After forty years of breaking with the clay building tradition of the Noviligurie region, the La Raia winery is the first modern rammed earth building. Sunk halfway into the ground, the clay walls protrude from the slope in a monolithic body. The aesthetic power of the building lies in the warm reddish hue of the local earth, which is reflected in the walls. The building and its surroundings merge into a harmoniously serene unity. The building process itself is also strongly linked to the site: the forty-metre-long rammed earth walls were built entirely from local materials with workers from the region.
