Mitten im alten Dorfkern von Almens liegt der zum Wohnhaus umfunktionierte Stall „Plazza pintgia“. Dem Wunsch nach natürlichen Materialien wurde durch den Einsatz von Stampflehm im höchsten Maße Sorge getragen. Statisch eingesetzte Fertigteile aus Stampflehm bilden Wände und ziehen sich zum Teil wie Skulpturen über alle drei Geschosse. Sie unterteilen zum einen den Stall zu Räumen, zum anderen übernehmen sie Funktionen der Haustechnik.
Die 50 cm starken Stampflehmwände geben dem Gebäude Speichermasse, dienen als Heiz- bzw. Kühlwände und regulieren die Feuchtigkeit. Der ebenfalls aus Lehm gestampfte Holzofen mit seiner beheizten Sitzbank gibt dem Haus ein gemütliches Zentrum. Eine enge Zusammenarbeit mit den Architekten und die Beratung im Entwurfsprozess ermöglichten einen reibungslosen Ablauf der Arbeiten und ein optimales Ergebnis.

In the middle of the old village center of Almens lies the Plazza Pintgia stable which has been converted into a residential house. The desire to feature natural materials was met to the highest degree with the use of rammed earth, timber, and stone. Prefabricated elements made of rammed earth form walls that stretch like sculptures through all three floors. They both divide the stable into rooms and house building services.
In situ rammed earth walls built 50 cm thick provide the building with thermal mass, serving as passive regulators of heating, cooling, and humidity. The central stove, also made of rammed earth, with its heated bench gives the house a cosy core. Close cooperation and consultation with the architects during the design process enabled the work to proceed smoothly and achieve the best outcome.
