Das vom renommierten norwegischen Architekturbüro Snøhetta entworfene Kulturzentrum fasst ca. 100.000 Quadratmeter an kulturellen Einrichtungen – darunter ein Auditorium, Kino, Bibliothek, Ausstellungshalle, Museum und ein Archiv.  Lehm Ton Erde wurde hinzugezogen, um den langen, bogenförmigen, irdenen Eingangsweg und den inneren Atriumräum aus lokalen Erdmaterialien zu realisieren. Die urtümliche Haptik und Wärme der Erde erdet und ergänzt die komplexen metallischen Strukturen des Hochbaus.  Die natürlichen temperaturregulierenden Eigenschaften des Stampflehms fügen sich ideal dem saudi-arabischen Klima und Kontext.

Designed by esteemed Norwegian office Snøhetta, the cultural centre contains 100,000 square metres of cultural facilities – including an auditorium, cinema, library, exhibition hall, museum and archive. Lehm Ton Erde was brought in to realise the long, arching earthen entrance way (in situ production) and the interior atrium space (prefabricated lining panels). The primordial haptics and warmth of the earth grounds and complements the complex metallic pebble forms of the elevated structure. The natural temperature and humidity regulating properties of rammed earth is perfectly suited to the Saudi Arabian climate and context.
